Kind stranger saves a dad $70 with rewards benefits despite being thwarted by a smug retail employee, helps a father buy his son a nice Christmas gift: '[She] was acting very inconvenienced'

Nothing can stand in the way of a determined dad and the perfect Christmas gift for his son!

… Except, of course, money. 

The crux of every holiday conundrum, money and finances are affecting a lot of people right now, determining the kinds of gifts we'll find under the Christmas tree later this month. Kids, who are innocent enough to have no concept of financial obligations, bills, and the rat race of life, won't understand why their holiday pile is scant. However, the hardworking parents trying to get it all together will feel the sting of their kiddo's disappointment if they can't afford the perfect present. 

This is why the dad in this next story got so lucky. 

A stranger, a shopper with plenty of rewards points and intimate knowledge of the department store's best deals, helped a struggling father this week, saving him  $70 on the perfect gift for his kid. This heartfelt gesture and meaningful holiday blessing were thwarted by a snobby cashier who acted smug and inconvenienced by this wholesome encounter. Yet the stranger wouldn't give up; they were determined to help this dad buy the perfect gift for his little one, imagining the joy on his face when he opens a brand-new gaming console and a Mario Kart game.

    So I was just hanging around the electronics section of TARGET grossmont when I noticed a person buying a Nintendo switch 2 for his kid.

  • The store employee said "well he needs to tell me that not you." Then she said that he needs to pull it up on his phone and show her. so I tried to help him download the Target app, but there was poor reception in the area.

  • I even let the "guy I was helping" know that he can actually buy gift cards and take advantage of their 10% off promotion right now to get it for even cheaper. But the employee said if I did that then she would consider it a potential scam and not sell it.

  • I said OK I will just order it for order pick up then she said "well your gonna have to wait 2 hours then". I asked the guy if that's ok and he said yeah sure he loves nearby. I put the guy name down. He handed me the cash and two hours later he picked it up.

  • So that guy not only saved $50, AND got the Mario Kart game, He also got 5% off with my red card discount. So he ended up paying $463 with Tax opposites to the $530 he was about to pay (without the MK world game) But am I the asshole???
